Remember the rush and excitement when you go your tattoo? But know you have a case of tattoo remorse…
Did you know some tattoos are less permanent than others? New biodegradable tattoo ink usually only requires 1 or 2 laser treatments for complete removal!
Q: How does laser tattoo removal work?
A: The laser light and heat breaks up ink particles in the skin. Particles then move through the lymphatic system until the body expels them, similar to a black and blue disappearing.
Q: How many treatments are necessary?
A: Generally it takes 3 to 10 treatments that last approximately 20 minutes per appointment once a month. We recommend that you use an antiseptic cream as well as sunscreen after treatment.
Q: Does it hurt?
A: Laser pulses feel similar to being snapped with a rubber band. We use a topical anesthetic cream and a zimmer chill-producing machine.
Q: Do treatments really work?
A: The type of ink is a factor in the success rate. The ink used in older tattoos is sometimes more challenging, whereas blue and black ink is easier to remove. Some colors such as green may require more treatments. A tattoo created by amateurs is easiest to remove because the ink is not deeply imbedded.
Q: How much does it cost?
A: Each treatment cost $175.00 and up depending on the size and color of the tattoo.
Q: What are the risks?
A: The treatments may cause a temporary hypo pigmentation (lighting of the skin). If you are prone to keloids, which are irregular shaped scars that grow above the skin, laser treatments may not be right for you. Discuss your options with your physician.
